The Yubo Fishing Port Restaurant, a three-story building in Nanjing, covers about 2,000 square meters. It not only caters to dining and meetings but also offers tea and wine culture experiences. The decor ties together a vivid new Chinese feel from the ceiling to the stone layout on the floor. The ceiling is decorated with Chinese ancient brackets and roofs, forming the main design element on the ceiling. The designed stone flooring layout makes the space look like a sparkling river.
The project draws inspiration from the poetic scene of a Chinese boat with lighting lanterns staying in a river enveloped in fog. This theme is realized through a wide variety of materials, including wood veneer, latex paint, stone, stainless steel, and wall covering fabric for the walls; stone, carpet, reinforced wood flooring, and ceramic tile for the floors; and furniture, lamps, and hardware. The primary material used is wood.
The project, which started in May 2019 in Jianye, Nanjing, China, is currently under construction and is estimated to finish in June 2020. The design research group was set up in early 2019 to specialize in the new Chinese feel restaurant design where people can feel ancient China. The client team hopes to establish an experimental restaurant in Nanjing.
Despite the challenges posed by the existing site condition, the design team did a lot of work in creating an efficient and remarkable space. All pipes and equipment are precisely located in the construction drawing. The project is a converted restaurant with three floors in Nanjing, covering about 2,000 sqm. The decor ties together a vivid new Chinese feel from the ceiling to the stone layout on the floor. Materials like wood veneer, golden stainless steel, and painting signifying new Chinese feel are mixed together to create a new Chinese feel space.
The Nanjing Fishing Port is a testament to the designers' ability to blend tradition and innovation, creating a space that is both poetic and peaceful. This design is not just a restaurant, but a cultural experience that transports visitors back to ancient China, making them feel like they are on a Chinese boat staying in a river enveloped in fog with all red lanterns lighted. It is a venue that encourages people to relax and rest, offering a unique dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary.
